Kitsilano/west side downtown Vancouver:
Museum of Vancouver: www.museumofvancouver.org
The museum has ramps, one automatic door at the entrance ,and accessible washrooms, but there are some barriers, most notably big heavy doors once inside. Attendants are admitted free. It could have scored *3 if it had better way finding and places to sit. As straight entertainment goes it's a good interactive learning experience and a fascinating way to spend a couple of hours.

The sight shares its automatic door with it's neighbour, the Museum of Vancouver. The clunky glass doors were propped open. Attendants are admitted free. The observatory allows wheelchair entrance but has no way for chair bound people to look through the lense. Really, they can put a man on the moon but... If the stars are your thing or you just want to check the accuracy of your Google sky map app then boldly go and have some fun. The planetarium has concert and educational viewings and offers lectures in the auditorium.
*2.5 The Vancouver Maritime Museum/Heritage Docks: www.vancouvermaritimemuseum.com The home of St. Roch is harder to navigate than the Northwest Passage if you're a chair user. It can be done but you you'll get "stuck in the ice" a lot. The heritage docks might be do-able during a high tide. *2 |
